Summary

In the country and in Connecticut, people use pesticides on a commercial and personal level to prevent pests from attacking and damaging their gardens. According to the EPA, insecticides accounted for approximately 80% of expenditures in the home and garden sector in 2012. In addition to killing pests, pesticides kill beneficial organism for gardens, and create runoff that destroys the natural world around us. There is also scientific evidence that supports the fact that people who eat food with pesticides are more susceptible to life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, reproductive harm, and endocrine disruption. BUGSprey’s goal is to find natural solutions for getting rid of insects that are attacking people's personal gardens, and educate people about the harmful impacts of pesticides and insecticides.

Consumers take a picture of the insect or damage to the plant in their garden, and provide a short description of what is happening in their garden due to the pest.

BUGSprey provides a native insect that will act as a natural predator to the pest that is in the consumer’s garden, or provide information about other natural repellents.

Consumer decides treatment plan and applies it to their garden, eradicating pests.
