Pesticides

The term pesticide covers a wide range of compounds including insecticides, fungicides, plant growth regulators and others. There is a total of 6 major pesticides used often when planting and regulating the growth of certain organisms. Insecticides are used to control insects, herbicides are used for plants, rodenticides for rodents such as mice and rats, bactericides for bacteria, fungicides for fungi, and larvicides for larvae.

Though pesticides have some positive effects, the negative effects cancel out the positive. All pesticides achieve the same level of harm to the environment and to humans. According to the CDC, Over 98% of sprayed insecticides and 95% of herbicides reach a destination other than their target species, because they are sprayed or spread across entire agricultural fields.
