Count down to Expo!

For this experiment there were four potato plants. Plant 1 was given five ladybugs and 20 aphids. Plant 2 was given nothing. Plant 3 was given five ladybugs. Plant 4 was given 20 aphids. In Plant 1, there was a decrease in aphids due to them being consumed by ladybugs, their natural predator. Plant 2 had no effects because there were no organisms at all. In Plant 3, the ladybugs had neither a positive nor negative effect because the greenery was similar to the control group. Plant 4 developed small, brown spots on its leaves which suggests deterioration. By only having aphids, the plant began to deteriorate. By having aphids and their natural predator, ladybugs, the plants continued to have good greenery.
