Aphids
Aphids, also known by their scientific name Aphidoidea, are considered plant lice. Aphids are native in all 50 of the United States. Some notable physical features include variations in colors: green, pink, white, gray, yellow, brown, or black. They also generally come in 2mm in size and have soft-squishy bodies in the shape of pears. Aphids usually come in large colonies on the undersides of leaves.

Predators of aphids are hummingbirds, lady beetles, larvae, lacewing, syrphid fly larvae, and minute pirate bugs. Aphids are attracted to plants like mustard and nasturtium. Aphids release honeydew that allows fungi to grow on it and this leaves mold to grow that is sticky and dark. Sometimes when people try to use pesticides on aphids it causes even greater outbreaks. Aphids usually bear around 20,000 offspring at one time. This usually overbears your casual family garden, especially when in a greenhouse as they are known to spread rapidly in enclosed spaces. A good deterrent to Aphids is keeping all your plants healthy and watered, this will slow down the consumption process for aphids and makes it harder for them to digest the plants, buying you more time to dispose of them while maintaining the general strength of your garden.
